Hello, Lover!

“It’s so pretty,” I sighed. “I just love it.”

I stood side-by-side with my husband in our home, gazing adoringly at the object of my affection. Not a new piece of furniture or artwork, nor jewelry, nor even a handmade coupon entitling me to one Saturday morning of uninterrupted sleep.

No, the true lovefest this Valentine’s Day lay in my gorgeous new blog design, courtesy of the talented and oh-so-patient Booyah’s Momma. So, if you’re looking at this via a reader, you’d best click right on through to the real thing. Because it is a sight to behold.

Originally meant to be a joint gift from Hubs and his parents for my upcoming birthday, the relaunch took place a few weeks early, coinciding instead with Valentine’s Day. It also unexpectedly coincided with one of the busiest weeks in blogging I’ve had in quite a while which, combined with my day job, may very well break my brain. Need.More.Wine!

The timing, however, is fitting given the fact that I am completely enamored of it. The color palette was inspired by Pinterest – meaning I finally used Pinterest for something other than pinning! And not only did Booyah’s Momma perfectly capture my personality in her design, she also provided the seamless and largely stress-free transfer of my site to a brand new host and domain.

On that note, I would like to direct your attention to a small housekeeping matter – namely the new URL, which now matches my handles on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and StumbleUpon. While my old domain will continue to redirect for the forseeable future, my anal retentive and slightly paranoid disposition nevertheless compels me to mention it. And as a gentle reminder which fellow long-suffering Kristins will no doubt support, it’s Kristin with an ‘i’, y’all.

Otherwise, it’s the same old What She Said you’ve come to know and hopefully love – just in fancier new digs! While Blogger felt like a rent-controlled apartment, and my initial move to self-hosted WordPress was akin to a cute little starter home, this place – with its air of sophisticated permanency – feels like the dwelling in which I’ll settle down and make a life for myself here in this virtual world.

And I could not love it more.

So, what do you think of the new digs?

I love it, the colors are totally rad.

Wait, people don’t say rad anymore, do they?

Aren’t the colors gorgeous? Inspired by Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/234257618087057758/

Which reminds me – I meant to mention that in the post. Off to edit!

And I totally think “rad” is due for a comeback.

    LOVE the new design!!!

My best friend in high school was Kristin, also with an ‘i’ and she always had to correct people!

My name has been misspelled (and mispronounced) in every way imaginable – and some pretty unimaginable ways, too. Correcting people has been the story of my life. To the point that when I give someone my name, I automatically spell it for them. And they’re always so grateful – as if mine is literally the hardest name in the world to spell.

      I just don’t get it.

Your makeover is so classy! I have to admit though…I will miss the polka dots because that is how I first met you. I’m sentimental like that ;-)

That’s sweet that you’re so sentimental, but those polka dots drove me crazy! I liked them for exactly 10 seconds after approving that design and then spent the next eight months bemoaning how busy looked. But I know a lot of people liked them – you weren’t the only one. Different strokes, I guess! :)

It definitely loads more quickly – I love that. My last site was poorly hosted, IMO, so many of the back-end features here have been a pleasant surprise.

And I find it hilarious that you think I’m “calming.” My husband would most certainly disagree! ;)

But seriously, thanks. I agree that it suits me perfectly.

She really did. And she was always very calming and professional, too – even during one slight freak-out on my part. ;)

She was also very open and honest about the budget really worked hard to stay within mine. I seriously can’t recommend her highly enough.

Oh my, my, my. Where do I even begin? I am not going to read the previous comments until I am finished- so if I repeat, I apologize.

First, LOVE the buttons. I am such a button fanatic as mine as mish mash-y. I know I need to fix it, but when? Yours are gorgeous.

Second, great colors, nice even layout and beautiful organization of previous posts. I wish more blogs were laid out like this!

Third, I really just love the main image. It reminds me of a classic cameo.

Bravo, my friend! It looks perfect! (and now I have blog envy!

If I didn’t already feel like I got my money’s worth – which I totally do – having you tell me you wished more blogs were laid out like this would do the trick. I completely agree – layout is so important. I really took that into consideration when communicating my wants and needs for this site, and Booyah’s Momma did a fantastic job translating all of it into a beautiful but also functional design.

The cameo look is EXACTLY what I was going for in the main image – I love all things vintage, so it suits me perfectly. At one point, I’d changed my mine and wanted to go with another image but budget constraints prohibited it – and now I’m so glad!
